Spring break is just around the corner and we knew we wanted to take a beach vacation this year. We thought about going back to Florida because it seemed like a budget friendly alternative to the Caribbean, but when I started searching for air and hotel I found that wasn’t the case. We had somewhat flexible dates, but the week we were looking at going was stupid expensive (like more expensive as our last trip to Turks & Caicos) so we decided if we’re spending that much money, why not go someplace better than Florida (sorry Florida). So I started looking at other destinations and we quickly decided to go back to Turks & Caicos.
We’ve been there twice and stayed at the same resort both times. This time we wanted to do something a little different so we booked our vacation rental thru Trip Advisor. This was the first time I booked thru Trip Advisor or looked at any rentals other than a resort or hotel. I was amazed at how many options there were in all price ranges. We are staying in a apartment that has a view of the ocean (according to the pictures) and it’s in an area we haven’t been to yet so we’re excited to see more of the island this trip.
It seems like an exotic vacation, somehow more exotic than an all-inclusive in the Dominican Republic where everyone seems to be going lately. But it really isn’t. Aside from the airfare which is expensive no matter where you go, the rental we found is super cheap which leaves more in our budget for excursions, etc. Screw the guilt and the second guessing and the wondering if we should spend money on a vacation right now.
